Our Story

The ReStore is a non-profit home improvement retail store with 2 locations in the Greater Des Moines area, owned and operated by Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity. We sell appliances, flooring, cabinets, furniture, and other renovation materials at a fraction of retail prices. Our items are donated from businesses and individuals in the community, and our staff inspect and test each item to ensure they meet our standards.

Make a Difference in Your Community

All our proceeds support the construction of new Habitat for Humanity homes across the Des Moines metro area. When you shop or donate items to our ReStore, you can feel good knowing that you are directly helping lower-income families own a home in your community. At the same time, you are also making a positive impact on the environment by helping to extend the lifespan of perfectly re-usable items that otherwise would have gone to waste, decreasing our collective carbon footprint. In 2022, our Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity ReStores diverted over 2,000 tons from the landfill.
